Julian Beard
Julian joined Osbornes in 1997 and became a Partner and Head of the Family Department in 1998. Julian has been acting for high net worth individuals throughout his career many of whom have had an international aspect to their case. Julian has also undertaken a number of complex children cases which have an international element by virtue of which Julian is a member of Reunite.
Julian is a member of the International Bar Association.
Julian personally handled the leading case of Ben Hashem v Radfan which laid down the rules and guidelines which the Family Courts should adopt when considering the rights of third parties in family cases. This remains the leading case.
Throughout his career he has frequently handled cases where there have been assets over £10,000,000 a significant number of which have issues which involve overseas trusts and corporate vehicles which have potentially significant tax issues.
Julian was also one of the first trained Mediators by Resolution and has been actively undertaking Mediation since 1997.
He has a significant and thriving Mediation practice. Mediation is now the most significant expanding and exciting area of family work especially following the implementation of the new Family Procedure Rules in April 2011.
Julian is regularly contacted by the media to provide commentary on news features.
Julian continues to be recommended by the respected legal guide, The Legal 500 - who describes him as solicitor who "knows his stuff" in the 2011 edition.
