Nobody is perfect and every now and then professionals, including solicitors, will make a mistake that causes their client to incur a loss. Whether this is a solicitor, surveyor, architect or builder if that person has been negligent then you may have a claim against them.

Professional negligence may arise in the following situations:

Surveyors/Architects

  • Negligent over or under valuation of works or property
  • Failing to recognise the property is structurally unsound or requires substantial repairs.
  • Providing incorrect or defective certifications
  • Preparation of defective plans
  • Insufficient supervision of works

Builders

  • Carrying out defective or inadequate works

Solicitors

  • Failing to identify defects in title or leases
  • Failing to advise as to rights of way
