- Will writing is being neglected by couples
Recently published research has revealed that some 66 per cent of people living together as a couple do not have a will.
A survey of 2,000 people co-habiting and married adults in the UK by "confused.com" has revealed that over half of couples in the UK do not have a will.
Over a quarter of people surveyed also admitted that they would not be able to afford the funeral if their partners died.
Jan Atkinson, Head of Wills, Probate and Disputed Estates at Osbornes explains that it is a myth that unmarried partners are automatically protected following the death of a partner.
Jan comments:
"No matter if you are married or cohabiting - having a will is of the utmost importance if you want to ensure that following your death your assets and estate goes to the person or people you wish them to go to"
