A warehouse worker has received £7,000 in compensation after an accident at work when riding a low level order picker (LLOP).

A LLOP is a motorized trolley used for moving pallets around the warehouse. The warehouse floor was made up of sections of concrete, with a gap between sections. On this occasion the wheels of the LLOP, which the victim was operating became stuck in the gap, which resulted in the machine crashing. The worker was knocked to the ground and the machine landed on her foot. She suffered a fractured bone in her foot and was off work for several months.

As part of the investigation other warehouse staff were able to provide testimonials to show that there had been similar accidents previously and that the floor was defective and unmaintained, which made the controlling of this specific piece of machinery very difficult and therefore dangerous to use.
