Employee suffered serious injury in fall from roof

A farm business has been fined £4,000 after a worker suffered a broken pelvis and other injuries in a roof fall.

The employee was dismantling a farm building and walked out onto a fragile roof panel when he fell four metres to the ground. He suffered four broken ribs and a broken shoulder blade as well as the pelvic injury. The subsequent investigation found that the farm had failed to properly plan the dismantling work thereby exposing the workers to unnecessary dangers
