Road workers death due to dangerous driving
A lorry driver who killed a teenage road worker has been jailed for three years.
The accident happened late at night when Graeme Phillpott failed to take action to avoid a stationary highways agency vehicle which was fully lit and had a flashing arrow.
Ryan Gregg, 18 from Northumberland was working with two colleagues putting out signs and cones in a section of roadworks at the scene and was seriously injured. He died later in hospital.
Phillpott was convicted of causing death by dangerous driving following a trial last month at Teesside crown court.
