Pensioner wins compensation after injury leaves him with brain damage

An elderly man who sustained a serious brain injury after being hit by a bus has received £100,000 in compensation.

The pensioner, a father of eight with eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren had been displaying symptoms of Alzheimer's since before the accident, but as the case proceeded it was clear that he was deteriorating. Although being in his seventies he had been an active man before the accident, following which he was like a different person.

As a result of the accident he has become confused and aggressive, he sadly no longer recognises his own children, is violent and spends much of the time under sedation.
