Holidaymaker on package holiday slips in bathroom results in successful compensation claim
A holiday maker has received £7,500 in damages after he slipped on a wet bathroom floor at his hotel on a package holiday in Turkey. On entering his hotel room the man was met by hotel maintenance who stated he had just fixed a leak in the bathroom.
The next morning it became apparent that the leak had not been fixed and the hotel staff were informed and assured the holidaymaker that the issue would be dealt with. During the night the man visited the bathroom only to slip on water caused by the leak. In doing this he fell, banging his head on the floor, grazed his face and also lost one of his front teeth.
Tour operators have a duty to ensure that the accommodation offered to holidaymakers is safe and guests are not exposed to the risk of injury.
