A 50 year old man has been awarded £1.15m in compensation after he suffered a serious brain injury when he was knocked over by a taxi.

The driver of the taxi had been driving too fast and had not been paying attention to the road in front of him. As a result he failed to see the man crossing the road and therefore was unable to brake sufficiently in time to avoid colliding into the man. It was established that had he been driving slower, the crash could have been avoided.

Immediately after the crash it was not certain whether the man would live, however after intensive treatment and rehabilitation he did make a recovery. However, due to his brain injury, he has been left with permanent disabilities and will never work again.

The £1.15m he will receive in compensation will go towards ensuring he can access proper care in the future and purchase a property more suited to his needs.
