A man who was injured after a car knocked him of his scooter has received £30,000 in an out of court settlement.

The man was travelling to work on his scooter when a car pulled out and struck him. The impact of the collision threw the man from the scooter onto the road, landing flat on his back. Immediately following the impact the man felt pain around his lower back, however believing that his injuries were not serious he went home.

After spending four days at home in continuous pain the man was able to return to his job, whilst at the same time receiving physiotherapy. When he began to experience lower back pain he was sent for an x-ray which confirmed disc and soft tissue damage to and around his spine.

Before the accident the victim was a keen sportsman and DIY enthusiast. Now when he is out walking he has to stop and stretch his back every fifteen minutes. He is having continuous treatment for his condition, however every three months he experiences an episode of extreme pain. Such an episode lasts for one week.
