Successful compensation claim for man involved in a road traffic accident

A man in his thirties who was seriously injured when he was dragged under the wheels of a coach in South London has received £105,000 in compensation in an out of court settlement.

The victim was wheeling his bicycle across a side street when he was hit by a coach which was turning left. The coach knocked him to the ground and ran over his legs and feet. The man suffered numerous injuries including a dislocated left foot, a fractured ankle, ligament and bone damage around his left knee, a fractured right femur and an injured right ankle. These injuries required surgery to insert metal into his damaged legs; he was let out of hospital after 2 weeks but was unable to walk for 6 months following the accident. Although returning to full time employment he is restricted in his movement and can no longer enjoy sports as he regularly did. He has also been left with extensive scarring around his knees and will need to endure further surgery to remove and replace the metal in his legs.
