A four year old boy who was knocked down on a pedestrian crossing has received over £100,000 in compensation.

The boy was being walked to school by his mother, they were using the same pedestrian crossing that they have always done when he stepped out to cross. As he stepped out he was hit by a van which dragged him along the road

The boy was rushed to hospital where he underwent an operation on his fractured leg. Although the boy made a remarkable recovery he was not able to return to school for six months, was left with one leg shorter than the other and has permanent scars including the imprint of a tyre tread on his leg.

The driver of the van insurers initially refused to admit liability for the injuries, going so far as trying to blame the mother of the boy for the accident.

Following lengthy negotiations the claim was settled for £100,000.
