Accident resulted in crushed foot
A part-time fire-fighter whose foot was crushed while on duty has received substantial compensation.
Andrew Murray was helping to secure a demolished chimney during high winds when his left foot was crushed by a hydraulic platform he was using. As well as losing his part time fire fighting job he also had to give up his full-time job as a financial advisor.
The injury to the foot is so severe that Mr Murray suffers from permanent pain and restricted movement. Mr Murray argued that Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service should have made sure that his colleagues operating the platform were sufficiently trained to do so. The fire service admitted liability and an out of court settlement was agreed.
