UK Road Accident Map
Britain boasts one of the best road safety records in the world, but with around six deaths on UK roads every day, it’s hardly a record worth shouting about. Clearly, there is still much to be done to improve the safety of our roads and so, to highlight the changes that need to be made, the Personal Injury Claims division of Osbornes Solicitors have created a UK Road Accident Map.
Featuring data from the Governments 2011 road accident dataset, the Map plots details of road accidents throughout the country, allowing visitors to view how many, and what type of incidents are occurring where. To view information around traffic collisions in your local area, simple enter a postcode or click on a region and zoom to view details.
This easy-to-use source of important information reinforces the vital message that more needs to be done to improve our roads. Osbornes hope to use this data to campaign for safer roads in areas where clusters appear.
Osbornes Solicitors LLP is calling for council action to better the safety of roads in the Camden area and the team are urging local residents to join their campaign for improvements. In particular Osbornes are campaigning for improvement to the junction of Camden Road and St Pancras Way which has been locally dubbed ‘Death Mile,’ so-called because of the sheer number of accidents and collisions that have occurred on Camden Road.
Osbornes plan to send a petition to the council and hope that local residents will support their initiative by signing their petition on http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/improve-our-roads/
Stuart Kightley, a Partner at Osbornes Solicitors, said: ‘Within 100 yards of my office in Camden there have been 4 fatal accidents in recent years. In three of them, a motorcyclist was killed. This interactive accident map will allow us to identify accident hotspots, and particularly those associated with fatal and serious injury accidents, which we can use to campaign for better road safety for motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians.’
If you have been involved in a traffic collision and would like to add details to the map, simply register and enter the requested information to see it appear in the map.
