Leasehold disputes – interpreting and enforcing lease terms

It is a fact of London living that many of us will live in leasehold properties in multi-occupancy blocks and houses. When a number of people live in the same building it is necessary to regulate their relationships with each other and with the Freehold owner of the building. The lease is the usually lengthy and complicated document that governs the terms of these relationships.

There are often times when disputes will arise between leaseholders and between leaseholders and the freeholders concerning parking, common areas, liability for repairs and alterations to name but a few. There will also be times when one leaseholder will need to enforce the terms of the lease against another, as they have no direct contractual relationship with the other leaseholders this can only be done through the Freeholder who has a relationship with each Lessee through the lease.

We can provide expert advice and assistance to both Freeholders and Leaseholders as to the interpretation of lease terms and the options available for their enforcement.
